EXTENSION OF WORKSHOP

June 2020.

This commercial refurbishment project was undertaken by the BPJ Construction team in 2020. The brief was to increase the office meeting space within a busy workshop building and we had just four weeks to complete the project.

The challenge was to increase formal meeting & office space within the building without losing any of the workshop floorspace. After a period of planning and brain storming, we established with the client that the most appropriate course of action would be to install a mezzanine above the workshop.

We were tasked with the design and build of the entire mezzanine floor to accommodate additional meeting and office space without impacting on the busy workshop below.

Throughout the building work, the workshop was able to continue to operate at full-capacity with no impact on employee productivity. We installed a full-time foreman on-site to ensure that the works were carried out safely, while the workshop continued to operate.

The client was delighted with the final outcome. Not only were we able to have minimal impact on their day-to-day operations, but they suddenly had a wealth of extra space in which to carry out the essential office work.

This busy workshop in Oxfordshire was a great example of thinking outside the box. In a business such as our client’s, floorspace is of paramount importance and so it took us coming in with a fresh perspective to uncover the potential of the project and produce a solution which ticked all the boxes.
